Join Us for the Inaugural Medical Student Clerkship Directors Track at the 2025 SAAAPM Annual Meeting

For many medical students, an anesthesiology elective or clerkship serves as their first and often most formative exposure to our specialty. These experiences are not only critical for shaping perceptions of anesthesiology but are also powerful opportunities to attract top-tier students into our field.

While national organizations such as the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) offer valuable resources for educators, there remains a notable gap: the absence of a dedicated national community for anesthesiology clerkship directors. The Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM) is uniquely positioned to bridge this gap by fostering collaboration, leadership, and innovation among those who lead, shape, and oversee the administration of undergraduate medical education in anesthesiology.

We are thrilled to launch the first-ever Medical Student Clerkship Directors Track at the 2025 SAAAPM Annual Meeting. This inaugural session will feature dynamic panels and an interactive workshop designed to support and inspire educators who oversee anesthesiology rotations. It’s more than a one-time event. It’s the beginning of a national effort to build a robust, sustainable community of medical student educators within anesthesiology.

If you are involved in advising, mentoring, or teaching medical students, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of anesthesiology education. We look forward to your participation as we lay the foundation for a new component of SAAAPM dedicated to clerkship directors and medical student advisors.
