AACPD Candidate – Adams

Phillip S. Adams, DO, FASA

Dr. Adams was born and raised in a suburb just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his undergraduate and medical studies, respectively. All of his anesthesiology training occurred at UPMC in Pittsburgh including internship, residency, pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric cardiac anesthesiology, and also an NIH T32 postdoctoral research training program.

Dr. Adams is active in physician well-being efforts serving as Co-Chair of the UPMC Anesthesiology Well-being Committee and member of the UPMC Physician Thrive Committee. He is an active member of the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) Research Committee and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Education in Perioperative Medicine (JEPM).

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and an attending pediatric cardiac and transplant anesthesiologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He also serves as the UPMC Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Residency Program Director, where he oversees the training of over 80 residents.
